Speaker Bobby Harrell Shows Disregard for Law by Suspending Himself

Speaker Bobby Harrell Suspended from Office: "...Democratic State Representatives James Smith and Todd Rutherford asked State Attorney General Alan Wilson for an opinion and clarification about the suspension. Wilson responded around midday Thursday, concluding that Harrell couldn't suspend himself, since he was automatically suspended from office by law as soon as he was indicted. He said the Pro Tem--in this case Rep. Jay Lucas--had the authority as soon as the indictment came down to suspend Harrell..."
